Clematis ‘Jackmanii’
Vines: Clematis
| Height: 10′ | Width: 2-4′ |
| Sun: Full to Part Sun | Zone: 3 |
Very popular, hardy climbing vine with large (4-6″), deep violet-purple, velvety open blooms with yellow stamens from summer to early fall. Veined, green, oval foliage on this dependable clematis. Good cut flower. Requires a support structure to climb such as a trellis or wall. Clematis prefer moist, well-drained soil: keep roots cool in summer and protected in winter by covering them with compost or mulch. Fertilize in spring with an all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. Blooms new wood (current seasons). Group C/3 pruning: must be pruned back late winter/early spring before new growth begins and old vines should be removed. Prune back heavily to about 1′ above ground level, leaving about 2-3 buds per stem. If desired, can be pruned back after first flush of flowers to encourage more blooms and better branching.
Available in select potted sizes.
