Very hardy, tall shrub with large, flat-topped clusters of white spring flowers that turn into showy, clustered berries that start out green, change to red then finally turn blue-black. Fruit persists into winter and attracts birds. Shiny, green foliage turns an attractive red to purplish-red in fall. Upright, vase-shaped shrub that is good for hedging or as a large background plant. Can be trained into a tree form. Adapts to both moist and dry conditions and is very tolerant of poor soils. Fertilize in spring with an all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. Prune as needed in late winter/early spring before new growth emerges; can be cut back heavily to rejuvenate an older plant.
Available in select potted sizes.
