Long panicles of single, reddish-purple, very fragrant flowers emerge from purple flower buds in spring. Green, smooth, heart-shaped foliage turns yellow in fall. Fast-growing, very hardy shrub. Suckering: makes a good hedge or use in large areas. Good cut flower. Best flowering in full sun. Prefers moist, well drained soil but is drought tolerant once established. Fertilize in spring with an all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. Lilacs bloom on old wood: prune right after flowering is finished to allow next years flower buds to set and to promote strong new growth, suckers can be pruned anytime.
Available in select potted sizes.
