Red-purple buds open to extremely fragrant, rich red-violet blooms that progress to purple on upright panicles in late spring. Green, large, heart-shaped, smooth foliage on a compact, upright shrub. Suckering: great for hedging, screens and large areas. Great cut flower. Best flowering in full sun. Prefers moist, well drained soil but is drought tolerant once established. Fertilize in spring with an all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. Lilacs bloom on old wood: prune right after flowering is finished to allow next years flower buds to set and to promote strong new growth, suckers can be removed anytime.
Available in select potted sizes.
