Sem False Spirea
Sorbaria sorbifolia ‘Sem’
Shrub: False Spirea
| Height: 3-3.5′ | Width: 3-4′ |
| Sun: Full to Part Sun | Zone: 3 |
Striking, fern-like, new foliage that emerges pink-orange and matures to yellow-green in summer on a compact, rounded form. Airy plumes of creamy-white flowers in mid-summer on red stems; coppery-bronze fall colour. Best foliage colour in full sun. Dense, spreading shrub that is great for borders and mass planting. Prefers moist, well-drained soil but is adaptable to most soils. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or an all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. Remove spent blooms to keep planting looking tidy. Prune as needed in late winter/early spring before new growth emerges; can be cut back heavily to rejuvenate plant and promote strong new growth.
Available in select potted sizes.
