Sambucus racemosa
Shrub: Elder/Elderberry
| Height: 8-10′ | Width: 8-10′ |
| Sun: Full to Part Sun | Zone: 3 |
Serrated, narrow green leaves on arching branches. Clusters of tiny, creamy-white flowers in late spring are followed by ornamental, red berry clusters in fall. Yellow fall foliage. Hardy, vigorous-growing shrub that is a good border or background plant. Best foliage colour in full sun. Prefers moist, well-drained soil but is very adaptable; drought tolerant once established. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or an all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. Can be pruned back heavily in late winter/early spring before new growth emerges as needed to control size and rejuvenate old stems to keep plant compact and bushy.
Available in select potted sizes.
