Golden Elder
Sambucus canadensis ‘Aurea’
Shrub: Elder/Elderberry
| Height: 6-8′ | Width: 6-8′ |
| Sun: Full to Part Sun | Zone: 3 |
Golden-yellow, large foliage on a fast-growing, vigorous, rounded shrub. Large clusters of tiny white flowers in late spring are followed by ornamental, red berry clusters that turn black in fall and attract birds. Great hardy colour contrast shrub. Best foliage colour in full sun. Prefers moist, well-drained soil but is very adaptable; drought tolerant once established. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or an all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. Can be pruned back heavily in late winter/early spring before new growth emerges as needed to control size and rejuvenate old stems to keep plant compact and bushy.
Available in select potted sizes.
