Thin, narrow green-grey foliage on smooth grey branches that are reddish-brown when young. Small catkins on new branches in spring. Native to North American plant that suckers profusely to form a thicket of tall, slender stems. Great for wet soils but does tolerate some drought once established; best used as a reclamation plant or for soil stabilization near stream banks. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or an all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. Prune back heavily in late winter/early spring before new growth emerges to rejuvenate old stems or to promote vigorous new growth as needed.
Available in select potted sizes.
