Rosa ‘Ramblin’ Red’

Shrub: Rose

Height: 8′ Width: 5-7′
Sun: Full Sun Zone: 3

Vigorous climbing rose with large, deep red, double blooms along strong, prickly stems from late spring to late summer. New foliage emerges burgundy in spring and matures to dark green, glossy foliage: often turns burgundy again in fall with showy orange hips. Great cut flower. Hardy and disease resistant: does well trained to climb on a support trellis or left to ‘ramble’ down a slope. Rambler Series. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or an all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. Roses need full sun for best flower production and a well-ventilated area; prefers moist, well-drained soil. Avoid getting the foliage wet when watering, instead water at soil level. Blooms on new wood: may cut back heavily in spring before growth emerges to promote new growth and better flower production, with heavy winter die back, prune back as low as the root system. Cut at a 45 degree angle rather than straight across, above an outward facing bud. Regular deadheading of finished flowers will promote more flower buds, ending a few weeks before end of summer to allow rose hips to form.

Available in select potted sizes.
