Rosa glauca

Shrub: Rose

Height: 5-7′ Width: 4-5′
Sun: Full Sun Zone: 2

Single, pink flowers with a white centre and yellow
stamens; has a mild fragrance. Attractive waxy foliage that emerges red-purple, turns blue-grey and then red in fall. Blooms in July only, followed by abundant red rose hips. Reddish-purple canes add winter colour. Rounded, hardy rose shrub. Species rose: also called ‘Rosa rubrifolia’. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or an all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. Roses need full sun for best flower production and a well-ventilated area; prefers moist, well-drained soil. Avoid getting the foliage wet when watering, instead water at soil level. Blooms on new wood: may cut back heavily in spring before growth emerges to promote new growth and better flower production, with heavy winter die back, prune back as low as the root system. Cut at a 45 degree angle rather than straight across, above an outward facing bud. Deadheading of finished flowers sometimes promotes a second flush of flowers.

Available in select potted sizes.
