Persian Yellow Rose
Rosa foetida ‘Persian Yellow’
Shrub: Rose
| Height: 7-8′ | Width: 5′ |
| Sun: Full Sun | Zone: 3 |
Deep yellow, double, small blooms on a vigorous, upright, hardy shrub. Licorice scented flowers cover this old-fashioned favourite, blooming only in June. Green foliage turns yellow in fall; showy purplish-black hips in fall and spiny red branches. Shrub rose. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or an all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. Roses need full sun for best flower production and a well-ventilated area; drought tolerant once established in moist, well-drained soil. Avoid getting the foliage wet when watering, instead water at soil level. Flowers on old wood: in spring cut out any winter die back, any shaping should be done right after flowering but you will lose rose hips. Cut at a 45 degree angle rather than straight across, above an outward facing bud. Regular deadheading of finished flowers will promote more flower buds.
Available in select potted sizes.
