•Native shrub rose that is the floral emblem of Alberta. Showy, single pink blooms with yellow stamens from May to July on thick, thorny branches. Flowers are usually followed by red, pear-shaped rosehips that are high in Vitamin C and can be steeped for tea. Green, serrated foliage turns yellow in fall. Very cold hardy shrub that is often used for reclamation. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or an all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. Roses need full sun for best flower production and a well-ventilated area; very adaptable to poor soils and drought tolerant once established. Avoid getting the foliage wet when watering, instead water at soil level. Flowers on older stems: in spring cut out any winter die back, any shaping should be done right after flowering but you will lose rose hips. Cut at a 45 degree angle rather than straight across, above an outward facing bud. Regular deadheading of finished flowers will promote more flower buds.
•Available in select potted sizes.
