Yellow, tubular, clove-scented blooms cover this native plant in spring and attract hummingbirds. Deeply lobed, green foliage on arching branches turns red-purple in fall. Small black berries attract birds in late summer. Good for a hedge or screen: suckers somewhat. Very hardy: tolerates a wide variety of soils and is drought tolerant in well-drained soil once established. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or an all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. Can be pruned into a hedge: shearing can be done anytime, more aggressive pruning should be done in late winter/early spring before new growth emerges.
Available in select potted sizes.
