Reddish-orange blooms cover this compact, rounded shrub from late spring until fall. Red flower colour fades to orange and holds its colour better in partial shade. Dense, green, finely textured foliage: great as a border plant, used as a low hedge or in mass plantings. Tough, adaptable plant that is drought and chinook tolerant and deer resistant. Tolerant of a wide variety of soil conditions but should be kept moist until established: during drought will benefit from extra watering. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or an all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. Blooms on new wood: annual pruning helps keep the shrub looking tidy and encourages new growth. Cut back one-third of the plant in late winter/early spring before new growth emerges or in fall when plant is dormant.
