Gold Star Potentilla
Potentilla fruticosa ‘Gold Star’
Shrub: Potentilla
Height: 1.5-2′ | Width: 2.5-3′ |
Sun: Full Sun | Zone: 2 |
Large, golden-yellow blooms cover this hardy shrub from summer until fall. Largest blooms of all Potentillas. Green, finely textured foliage and a compact, dense growth habit. Great border plant or used as a very low hedge or in mass plantings. Tough, adaptable plant that is drought and chinook tolerant and deer resistant. Tolerant of a wide variety of soil conditions but should be kept moist until established: during drought will benefit from extra watering. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or an all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. Blooms on new wood: annual pruning helps keep the shrub looking tidy and encourages new growth. Cut back one-third of the plant in late winter/early spring before new growth emerges or in fall when plant is dormant.
Available in select potted sizes.
