Hardy, fast-growing shrub with showy, fragrant, reddish-pink, tubular spring blooms that attracts hummingbirds. Abundant, ornamental, red berries in late summer/ fall attracts birds. Upright, spreading form with oval, blue-green foliage; resistant to aphids. Prefers moist, well-drained soil but is drought tolerant once established. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or an all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. Little pruning needed: if plant becomes old, cut to ground level in spring to promote healthy new growth.
