Hardy, panicle hydrangea with stunning, large blooms that start as white in summer, slowly change to pink, then red in in fall. Excellent fresh or dried cut flower. Large, upright shrub with strong stems and green, pointy leaves. A south/east-facing spot, sheltered from the hot afternoon sun is preferred: mulching the roots in winter protects in cold, exposed locations. Does best in moist, well-drained soil but is very adaptable. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or an all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. Blooms on NEW wood: before new growth emerges in spring, cut plant back to one-third of its total height to encourage new growth and the coming seasons blooms.
