Chicago Fire Burning Bush
Euonymus alatus ‘Chicago Fire’
Shrub: Burning Bush
| Height: 8-10′ | Width: 6-8′ |
| Sun: Full to Part Sun | Zone: 4 |
Large, compact, rounded shrub prized for its long lasting, showy, red fall colour. Dark green, pointy foliage turns fiery red in fall: best fall colour in full sun. Inconspicuous, yellow flowers are followed by ornamental, red fruit in fall that open to expose small, orange seeds that provide winter interest. Corky, ridged bark and harvest gold branches. Great as a specimen plant or used as a hedge. Prefers moist, well-drained soil but is very adaptable once established. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. Prune as necessary while dormant: late winter/early spring is best, lightly shearing to shape or removing dead branches can be done anytime: withstands heavy pruning.
Available in select potted sizes.
