Hedge/Peking Cotoneaster
Cotoneaster lucidus/acutifolia
Shrub: Cotoneaster
| Height: 5-8′ | Width: 5-8′ |
| Sun: Full to Part Sun | Zone: 2 |
Compact and upright, very hardy and dependable shrub used primarily for hedging. Dense, glossy, green foliage turns a stunning, red-orange in fall. Small, pink flowers in spring mature to tiny, black, ornamental berries in fall that attract birds. Excellent hedging plant (both for a formal or informal look) or as a specimen shrub: space plants 1′ apart for hedging. Prefers moist, well-drained soil but is drought tolerant once established. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. Does very well with heavy pruning: prune in late winter/early spring before new growth emerges to control size and shape, shearing during the growing season will keep them tidy.
Available in select bareroot and potted sizes.
