Compact, dense and spreading form on this hardy shrub with bright red stems that add colour contrast in winter. Pointy, dark green foliage turns a striking red-purple in fall. Clusters of white flowers in late spring/early summer mature to ornamental, white berries that attract birds in winter. Good as a large accent shrub or used in mass plantings. Prefers moist, well-drained soil. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. Prune in late winter/early spring to encourage new growth, control size, and keep them dense: remove about 1/3 of oldest stems annually.
