Prairie Fire Dogwood
Cornus alba ‘Prairie Fire’
Shrub: Dogwood
| Height: 6-7′ | Width: 5-6′ |
| Sun: Full to Part Sun | Zone: 3 |
Large, rounded, hardy shrub with outstanding, orange-red stems that add great colour contrast in winter. Large, golden-yellow foliage that fades to a softer yellow in summer, then turning bright red in fall. Small clusters of white flowers in late spring/early summer that mature to ornamental, white berries that attract birds. Excellent specimen shrub, used in group plantings or as a hedge. Prefers moist, well-drained soil. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. Prune in late winter/early spring to encourage new growth, control size, and keep them dense: remove about 1/3 of oldest stems annually.
Available in select potted sizes.
