Silver Leaf Dogwood
Cornus alba ‘Elegantissima’
Shrub: Dogwood
| Height: 8′ | Width: 6-7′ |
| Sun: Full to Part Sun | Zone: 3 |
Large, upright, dense, very hardy shrub with bright red stems that add great colour contrast in winter. Variegated, green, pointy foliage has a creamy-white margin and matures to a pink hue in fall. Clusters of small white flowers in late spring/early summer that turn into ornamental, blue-white berries that attract birds in winter. Great as a large accent shrub, planted in groups, or as a hedge. Prefers moist, well-drained soil. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. Prune in late winter/early spring to encourage new growth, control size, and keep them dense: remove about 1/3 of oldest stems annually.
Available in select potted sizes.
