Upright, rounded, hardy shrub with dark purple stems that add great colour contrast in winter. Pointy, dark green foliage is covered with a bronze-purple hue and matures to red in fall. Clusters of cream-white flowers in late spring/early summer are followed by white-blue, ornamental berries in fall that attract birds in winter. Great accent plant or used in groupings. Prefers moist, well-drained soil. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. Prune in late winter/early spring to encourage new growth, control size, and keep them dense: remove about 1/3 of oldest stems annually.
