Large, rounded, very hardy shrub with bright red stems that add great colour contrast in winter. Attractive, pointy, green foliage has a thick yellow margin. Clusters of white flowers in summer are followed by ornamental, white berries in late summer which attract birds in winter. Great as an accent plant or planted in groupings. Prefers moist, well-drained soil. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. Prune in late winter/early spring to encourage new growth, control size, and keep them dense: remove about 1/3 of oldest stems annually.
