Buxus ‘Green Velvet’

Shrub: Boxwood

Compact, rounded, low-growing, broadleaf evergreen. Small, glossy, dark green foliage that lightens overwinter but holds its colour well. Inconspicuous, pale yellow spring flowers. Good as a low hedge in a sheltered area or as a specimen plant. In zone 3, plant boxwood in a wind and sun sheltered site, and where it will have good snowcover throughout winter. Needs soil to be moist and cool: mulch around base of plant. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. Little pruning necessary: if needed prune in late winter/early spring to remove winter dieback or to shape by shearing.
