Berberis thunbergii ‘Rose Glow’

Rounded, showy, slow-growing shrub with spiny stems. Oval foliage is an interesting mottled, rosy, red, green and white colour on high arching branches, maturing to a deep red-purple, then orange-red in fall. Yellow spring flowers mature to bright red, ornamental fruit in fall, persisting into winter. Foliage colour is best when planted in full sun. Excellent as a specimen shrub, or a barrier hedge because of its thorns. Prefers moist, well-drained soil; drought tolerant once established. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or an all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. Prune any winter dieback in early spring.
