Dwarf and compact, showy, slow-growing shrub with spiny stems. Oval foliage is a golden-yellow colour with a slight orange tint, turning orange-pink in fall. Yellow spring flowers followed by yellow-green, ornamental berries in fall. Foliage colour is best when planted in full sun. Great as a specimen plant for small, sunny spaces or as a low, barrier hedge. Prefers moist, well-drained soil; drought tolerant once established. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or an all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. Prune any winter dieback in early spring.
