Dense, rounded canopy on this specimen, large, very showy shrub. New emerging, crimson spring foliage turns dark purple-red, then scarlet in fall. Only survives as a patio plant in Zone 3 climates. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. Prune as necessary only when tree is in full-leaf, about beginning of July.
