Narrow, columnar, slow growing accent tree. Dense, compound, dark-green foliage that turns a striking yellow to orange-red in fall. Clusters of white spring flowers turn into orange-red berries in fall that persist into winter and attract birds. Excellent specimen tree or used for narrow and small spaces. Mountain ash need fertile, well-drained soil, light sandy is preferred; do not plant in low-lying, wet areas or in compacted soil. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. Little pruning needed, if necessary prune in late winter/early spring while tree is dormant, dead branches can be removed anytime.
