Small, upright, oval, hardy feature tree that is great for small yards. Before foliage emerges, tree is covered in white spring blooms which turn into small, red, sour, edible cherries in late summer that can be used for jelly. Self-fertile. Attractive reddish bark; shiny green foliage turns yellow to orange-red in fall. Good specimen tree for small yards. Needs well-drained, sandy soil. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. Little pruning needed; if necessary prune after flowering, for major pruning wait until late winter/early spring, dead branches can be removed anytime.
