Spectacular show of double, white, fragrant spring blooms cover the tree before green foliage emerges. Yellow-orange fall colour and small, sparse, if any, yellow-red, ornamental fruit. Purple/black bark with white markings add winter contrast. Great as a hardy specimen tree for small yards. Do not plant in low-lying areas; prefers well-drained soil. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. Prune immediately after flowering if necessary; for major pruning wait until late winter/early spring, suckers and dead branches can be pruned anytime.
