Tree: Poplar & Aspen

Fast growing, rounded, very hardy tree. Strongly fragrant balsam scented buds in spring followed by dark green foliage, then yellow in fall. Excellent acreage tree for shelterbelt or windbreak. Plant 12′ apart when using as a windbreak. Poplars grow best in moist, rich soil but can grow in a wide variety of soils and are very adaptable. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. Prune in late winter/early spring as needed, suckers should be pruned down as soon as they appear.
