Tree: Poplar & Aspen

Fast growing, upright, somewhat narrow, hardy tree. Large, heart shaped leaves turn yellow in fall. Excellent shelterbelt or windbreak tree. Plant 12′ apart when using as a windbreak. Poplars grow best in moist, rich soil but can grow in a wide variety of soils and are very adaptable. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. Prune while dormant as needed, late winter/early spring is best; suckers should be pruned down as soon as they appear.
