Fast growing, upright, hardy tree. Fragrant, sticky buds in spring open to glossy, blue-green foliage that matures to yellow in fall; smooth bark becomes furrowed with age. Mainly used as shelterbelt or windbreak tree that prefers to be in a wet location. Plant 15′ apart when used as a windbreak. Poplars grow best in moist, rich soil but can grow in a wide variety of soils and are very adaptable. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. Prune while dormant as needed, late winter/early spring is best; suckers should be pruned down as soon as they appear.

Available in select bareroot and potted sizes.
