Tree: Ornamental Crabapple

Upright, dense, ornamental tree with dark green, glossy foliage turns yellow-orange in fall. Red buds open to white, fragrant spring blooms that mature to tiny, red, ornamental fall fruit that persists into winter. Highly disease resistant. Showy specimen tree for small yards. Needs well-drained soil but tolerates many other soil types. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. If necessary, prune immediately after flowering so next spring’s flower buds can form, for major pruning wait until late winter; suckers can be removed anytime.
