Tree: Ornamental Crabapple

Columnar, very compact tree with disease resistant, green, purple-tipped foliage that turns yellow-golden in fall. Pink buds open to pink-white, single blooms in spring and are followed by small, red fruit in fall. Great as a small accent tree or for narrow spaces. Prefers moist, well-drained soil but tolerates many other soil types. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. If necessary, prune immediately after flowering so next spring’s flower buds can form, for major pruning wait until late winter.
