Tree: Ornamental Crabapple

Upright, columnar, showy tree with masses of pink spring blooms that mature to small, purple-red, ornamental fruit that persists into winter. Striking, bronze-purple foliage that adds great colour contrast. Showy specimen tree for small yards. Needs well-drained soil but tolerates many other soil types. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. If necessary, prune immediately after flowering so next spring’s flower buds can form, for major pruning wait until late winter; suckers can be removed anytime.
