Tree: Ornamental Crabapple

Hardy, upright, small ornamental tree with burgundy new foliage that mature to bronze-green. Large, deep-rose, spring flowers mature to small, green-red, ornamental fruit. Good specimen tree for small yards. Needs well-drained soil but tolerates many other soil types. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. If necessary, prune immediately after flowering so next spring’s flower buds can form, for major pruning wait until late winter; suckers can be removed anytime.
