Upright, spreading canopy on this small tree. Glossy, green foliage with fragrant, double spring flowers that open white and mature to pink, followed by red, ornamental fall berries. Interesting, twisted trunk with some thorns. Showy specimen tree. Drought tolerant once established; prefers well-drained soil. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. Prune after flowering if necessary; suckers and dead branches can be removed anytime.
