Elegant, weeping, dense tree with delicate, serrated green foliage that turns yellow in fall. Attractive, peeling bark turns white with maturity. Great as a large specimen or shade tree. Birch need very moist, rich, fertile, and well-drained soil. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. Prune as necessary only when tree is in full-leaf, about beginning of July.
