Vigorous, large, pyramidal-shaped tree with green foliage turning yellow-red in fall. Used as a large specimen tree. Needs a sheltered location in zone 3. Prefers moist, well-drained soil. Prefers acidic soil that is moist and well-drained but is drought tolerant once established. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. Prune as necessary only when tree is in full-leaf, about beginning of July.
