Upright, rounded, dense canopy with thick, glossy, dark-green leaves that turn intense shades of orange, red and yellow in fall. Used as a large specimen tree. Needs a sheltered location in zone 3. Prefers acidic soil that is moist and well-drained. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. Prune as necessary only when tree is in full-leaf, about beginning of July.
