Rubus ‘Boyne’
Fruit: Raspberry
| Height: 5-7′ | Width: 3-4′ |
| Sun: Full Sun | Zone: 2 |
Upright, open, very cold-hardy shrub that is a heavy producer of very nutritious fruit. Prickly, woody stems and fuzzy, oval foliage with small, white spring blooms. Bountiful, juicy, dark-red berries with a sweet-tart, juicy, rich taste and firm texture. Fruit is excellent for fresh eating, freezing, baking, cooking, and jam. Summer bearing: ripens July to August. Suckering habit; space 3′ apart when planting several plants. Prefers rich, moist, well-drained soil. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or an all-purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. This variety is ‘floricane’ meaning it produces fruit on two year wood: every spring while shrub is still dormant, cut back all dead and two year old canes (last years fruiting canes) to encourage new growth and ensure future fruit production.
Self-pollinating.
Available in select bareroot and potted sizes.
