Small, rounded, prickly shrub. Small, white-green flowers in spring and green, lobed foliage that turns orange-red in fall. Large, red, juicy fruit that has a delicate, sweet-tart flavour and can be used for jam and pies. Ripens in July. Being a thorny shrub it makes a great barrier hedge. Prefers moist-well drained soil. Fertilize in spring before new growth emerges with a good compost or an all-purpose fertilizer. Prune a one third section of canes back to the ground each spring to encourage new growth and better fruit production.
Self-pollinating.
