Pyrus x ussuriensis ‘Golden Spice’

Fruit: Pear

Height: 20′ Width: 16′
Sun: Full Sun Zone: 3

Dense, upright, fast-growing and hardy pear tree. Clusters of showy, large, white spring blooms and glossy, green foliage that turns a beautiful orange-burgundy to purple in fall. Medium-yellow with red blush fruit that is 2″ in size and has a firm texture; best used for canning and jams. Ripens in late September. Tree has great ornamental value and makes a great accent tree. Prefers moist, well-drained soil. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or an all-purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. For major pruning wait until late winter while tree is dormant; suckers or dead, broken, and diseased branches, can be removed anytime. Prune while young to create open centered branching to allow for even sunlight which results in better ripening of fruit and good air circulation.

Requires another variety of pear tree within 500′ for cross-pollination (approximately one city block).

Available in select potted sizes.
