Small, compact, rounded, hardy cherry tree. Clusters of lightly fragrant, showy, white, spring blossoms appear before glossy, dark-green foliage that matures to yellow in fall. Bountiful, dark, red-black, 1.25″ size fruit with red flesh and a hard pit. Sweet-tart, juicy flavour and fleshy texture; excellent for juicing, good for fresh eating and great for processing (canning, freezing, cooking, pies, etc.). Ripens mid summer. Romance series. Low-suckering habit; excellent for small yards. Prefers moist, well-drained soil. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or an all-purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. Not much pruning is necessary, if needed, prune in late winter while tree is dormant; suckers or dead, broken, and diseased branches, can be removed anytime.
Self-pollinating.
Available in select potted and caliper sizes.
