Prunus cerasus ‘Evans’
Fruit: Cherry

Small, oval, very hardy cherry tree. Clusters of lightly fragrant, showy, white, spring blossoms appear before glossy, dark-green foliage which matures to yellow in fall. Vigorous yielding, large, bright-red, sour, tart fruit with translucent flesh and a hard pit. Mostly used for processing: canning, freezing, cooking, pies, etc. Ripens mid summer. Smooth, dark-red bark adds winter interest; excellent for small yards. Prefers moist, well-drained soil. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or an all-purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. Not much pruning is necessary, if needed, prune in late winter while tree is dormant; suckers or dead, broken, and diseased branches, can be removed anytime.
Self-pollinating.
Available in select potted and caliper sizes.
