Odyssey Apple
Malus ‘Jefsey’
Fruit: Apple
| Height: 16-20′ | Width: 13-16′ |
| Sun: Full Sun | Zone: 3 |
Small, rounded, hardy apple tree. Lightly scented, white spring booms and pointy, green foliage that matures to yellow in fall. Fruit has red blush over yellow-green skin, crisp, sweet, white flesh and is 2.75-3″ in size; comparable to a Gala Apple. Great for eating fresh or cooking, stores good. Ripens in late August/late summer. Needs well-drained soil but tolerates many other soil types. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or an all-purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. For major pruning wait until late winter while tree is dormant; suckers or dead, broken, and diseased branches, can be removed anytime. Prune while young to create open centered branching to allow for even sunlight which results in better ripening of fruit and good air circulation.
Requires another variety of apple tree within 500′ for cross-pollination (approximately one city block).
Available in select potted sizes.
