Malus ‘Kerr’

Fruit: Applecrab

Height: 10-16′ Width: 7-13′
Sun: Full Sun Zone: 3

Rounded, productive, hardy apple tree. Lightly scented, white, spring blooms with green, pointy foliage that turns yellow in fall. Small, 1.5″, dark-red fruit with yellow, flecked with red, flesh. Sweet-tart taste and firm texture. Good for eating fresh, excellent for cooking and canning; great storage life of 3 months. Ripens late September. Needs well-drained soil but tolerates many other soil types. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or an all-purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. For major pruning wait until late winter while tree is dormant; suckers or dead, broken, and diseased branches, can be removed anytime. Prune while young to create open centered branching to allow for even sunlight which results in better ripening of fruit and good air circulation.

Requires another variety of apple tree within 500′ for cross-pollination (approximately one city block).

Available in select potted sizes.
