Honeycrisp Apple
Malus ‘Honeycrisp’
Fruit: Apple
| Height: 13-16′ | Width: 10-13′ |
| Sun: Full Sun | Zone: 3 |
Rounded, hardy apple tree that has a slightly smaller canopy than most apple trees. Lightly scented, white, spring blooms and green, pointy foliage that turns yellow in fall. Reliable producer of red over yellow base, large, 2.5-3″ size fruit with crisp, sweet, juicy flesh. Excellent for fresh eating, good for cooking and an exceptional storage life. Ripens late September. Needs well-drained soil but tolerates many other soil types. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or an all-purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. For major pruning wait until late winter while tree is dormant; suckers or dead, broken, and diseased branches, can be removed anytime. Prune while young to create open centered branching to allow for even sunlight which results in better ripening of fruit and good air circulation.
Requires another variety of apple tree within 500′ for cross-pollination (approximately one city block).
Available in select potted and caliper sizes.
